Tecar Therapy Winback in Brussels

Tecar Therapy is an endogenous radiofrequency technology used in physiotherapy to accelerate recovery, reduce pain and treat musculoskeletal conditions.

What is Tecar Therapy?

TECAR stands for Transfer of Energy Capacitive And Resistive. This technology generates deep, endogenous heat within tissues — without burning the skin surface.

  • Capacitive mode Targets soft tissues: muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments. Ideal for contractures and muscle tension.
  • Resistive mode Targets hard tissues: joints, bone, cartilage. Used for osteoarthritis, sprains and joint pathologies.
  • Endogenous heat Heat is produced from within the tissues themselves, reaching deep structures inaccessible by conventional thermotherapy.
  • Winback technology The practice is equipped with a Winback device — a European reference in Tecar Therapy used in professional sport and sports medicine.

What happens during a session?

Initial assessment

Tecar Therapy is always preceded by a full physiotherapy assessment. The therapist identifies the target tissues and adjusts the parameters (frequency, mode, duration) to your specific situation.

Application

A conductive gel is applied to the treatment area. The device head is moved slowly across the skin. The sensation is a progressive, deep and pleasant warmth. Each zone typically takes 10 to 20 minutes.

Combined treatment

Tecar Therapy is combined with manual techniques, exercises or strengthening according to the treatment plan. The endogenous heat generated enhances the effect of the manual therapy that follows.

Frequently asked questions

  • No. Tecar Therapy produces a progressive, deep warmth. The sensation is generally described as pleasant — similar to a deep heat massage. Intensity is always adjusted to your comfort.
  • The number of sessions depends on the condition and how chronic it is. For a recent sports injury, 3 to 5 sessions are often sufficient. For a chronic tendinopathy or post-operative recovery, the protocol is longer. Your therapist will guide you during the initial assessment.
  • Tecar Therapy is integrated into the physiotherapy session. If you have a medical prescription, the session is reimbursed at the standard INAMI physiotherapy rate. The Tecar technology is not billed separately.
  • Yes. Tecar Therapy is contraindicated with a pacemaker, during pregnancy (over the abdomen), with active cancer in the treated area, and in cases of fever or severe acute inflammation. Your therapist will verify these during the assessment.
  • Several therapists at Cabinet La Cambre are trained in Winback Tecar Therapy. It is offered as part of treatment for sports injuries, post-operative care and tendinopathies. Visit the appointment page to choose the therapist best suited to your situation.
